Recent Website and Email Scams

In the past couple of weeks It has been brought to my attention from several of our clients that they are receiving confusing emails regarding their website hosting and email accounts. At first glance the emails seem legitimate. However, they are not.

One is from a “Domain Service Organization”, lists your name, address and website address and looks somewhat authentic. It suggests that your website domain registration is expiring and that you will not be found on the web if you do not purchase an additional year.

We have also been alerted to another email scam which says that your
“Email Account Certificate” has expired. It is requesting that you “renew your webmail certificate” and “update” your email records to restore full access otherwise your email delivery will be interrupted.

A good rule of thumb would be to contact your hosting and email providers if you receive anything about your accounts.
