I often write about how to develop a good website and the need to update or redesign your website on a routine basis. But how do you know when your website may be outdated? Below are some red flags that may indicate that it’s time for a new website.
There is clutter, many bright colors, several different backgounds, another words, your website is screaming “LOOK AT ME!!!”
If your home page has a caption under a photo which says “Award winning project from 2005”, it is definitely time for a new photo or a new website.

Many people are in public places. Images and music are distracting and noisy. In addition, Flash is not SEO friendly, takes longer to load and is not compatible with many devices.
Sometimes business owners need photos. If you must use them, try not to use stock photos that look fake, as your brand loses credibility.
Back in 2004, pop-ups were the most hated web experience according to Nielsen Norman Group. However, there are new creative techniques to consider so they can be more effective and not make people quickly exit your website. But if you have those old time popups you may want to think about a website update.
